Jensen’s Whip.

Posted by: kris on Friday, August 13th, 2010 11:13 am

Wanted to get this up last night but there was no way any kind of internet was happening after Warped Tour…(thatll be todays Dailymobile post later). You’ve probably seen this but it deserves the repost. Definitely a long time coming and now finally some video of a tailwhip on a fixed gear. Sick shit for sure. Some people are saying that this is game changing…but i disagree. This is the game. Or at least what the majority of the game is as of late. BMX style tricks on big bikes. Regardless…this is dope. Ha. Jensen is straight killing it! Tweeted by Mr. Hoffner.

Coming Eighthinch Goods.

Posted by: kris on Friday, August 13th, 2010 10:14 am

The dudes at Eighthinch are constantly expanding their line of products. Over the past few months theyve come out with at least 15 new bits ranging from trick frames to polo mallets. This new batch of stuff, coming in shortly, covers much of the odds and ends of having a bike. Pedals, grips, chains, headsets, bottom brackets and bar ends to finish off a new build or keep your current one in top shape. Fixed freestlye has seen me going through countless sets of pedals, grips and a few chains (forks and seats are the worst for me!) so these are a nice option!

Some after effects fun that turned out to be pretty entertaining. Would be better though if it was original material not mostly stuff snagged from Macaframa :/. Whats the etiquette on doing something like this anyway? You see a lot of this stuff on youtube with funny cats, skateboarding, drifting…all kinds of stuff. Would it be okay if the sources were at least cited? Hmmm…

I enjoyed it anyhow. Ha.

I saw this earlier today and wanted to start drooling. If your not into compression plugs and are having issued with starnuts…these bad bits are going to be featured on 14 Bike Co.’s ESB frames. I looks like it might be just as simple as a threaded steerer on the fork but there arent too many deets on the 14 Bike Co. bloggy…just yet.

Eighthinch Butcher Cuts: 2 of 3.

Posted by: kris on Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 5:22 pm

Continuing with the unveiling of the butcher is its front end. Eighthinch went with the almost fixed freestyle standard 45/45 integrated headtube…same design found on most bmx bikes today. Im a huge fan of these for the easy of install (no more hassling crown races!) and the overall smoother feel of a sealed cartridge bearing. The gussets have been redesigned since its sibling and now include a silhouetted logo staring you down (or up?) from the toptube. Ill get to the mid portion of the bike before some build photos friday!

Focale 44: Polo Bike.

Posted by: kris on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 10:17 am

Coming from Focale 44 is a complete polo build about ready to hit the court. The name….Polo Bike…might not be too catchy but it works for obvious reasons ha. The bike itself looks pretty well set up with low gearing and some 48 spokers to help control the ball. Looks like it’ll be coming in right around $700 which i’d never spend on a bike thats going to get beat to nothing…but its still a decent price for a complete bike. I like the “final word” of the press release haha:

Focale 44: Polo Bike.

Focale 44 is proud to introduce one of the first (if not the first) polo bike so far : the Polo Bike. Yes, the bike name is so obvious that you instantaneously know what it is all about.

The attached picture is the only we have now. A kind of spy shot from Eurobike show, taken by La Finca Distribution, our distributor in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
That Polo Bike has been developped in cooparation with a bikepolo team from Toulouse, France. Mainly with one of the crew : Théo Guerry. Starting from a Full Moon bike (Focale 44 first bike of the range), we changed the following parts to make it polo-ready :
- short and raised stem
- laidback seatpost
- confortable seat
- 28/16 gearing
- 2 chainguards
- 700×28c tires
- and last but not least 48-spoke wheels.

Retail price should remain under 600 euros in Europe. Available in november 2010.
Final word : We know that this Polo Bike may not be perfect. However, it exists, which is better than nothing.

Vintage.

Posted by: kris on Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 11:17 am

This may have been posted somewhere before…oh well! What i do know is that ive spent the better part of the past hour looking at Oldbike.eu and all the history available to take in. Vintage rides from as far back as the 1860s, catalogs complete with telegraph codes for ordering and a nice bit on bicycle history. There’s such a mass amount of interesting photos and information that you could easily spend the better part of a day looking through it. For each post there is a good bit of info on the bikes and their features…diagrams and instructions are included in some of the post in addition to photos. It was hard picking only a few things to post here (havent looked through it all yet either!) but some of my favorites are below…

Pages from a 1917 Iver Johnson and 1907 Royal Enfield catalog. There’s a bunch of other brands up on there as well.

Volume Bikes: Resist.

Volume Bikes: Resist.

In an announcement posted by Volume today the launching of a new component brand Resist was announced. This is going to be Volumes outlet for fixed, 26″ and apparently commuter parts in an effort to keep the Volume branding minimal. The Resist site is live but with nothing other than the logo below above. Here’s what went up on the Volume site:

Some of you guys probably are wondering what the hell happened to the Volume Stamp sprockets we showed samples of awhile back. Volume started to make too many parts that we swore Volume would never do, Volume was always to be a frame, fork and bar company. We decided to start a new parts brand, Resist Parts. Resist will focus on parts for fixed, 26” and our new line of commuter bikes. It’s endless on what the possibilities are for Resist. The natural progression of Volume in making new lines of frames, Resist will always be able to supply the parts.
We’ll have more info on the Resist Parts site on what will be available. Production of parts will be available Oct. Stay tuned!”

The once Volume splined sprockets have now become these pretty Resist pieces…

I first head of BB17 when they dropped their riser bars some time back. They continue to expand their offerings to the fixed freestyle world with some fresh colors on their Cobra fork. If you havent seen this before its definitely a fork to consider when setting up a new front end. Integrated top cap and fluted steerer tube definitely set this apart form most other forks on the market as of yet. Clears 47c tires with a 408 axle to crown. This green piece is purdy.

V2 Julians!

Posted by: kris on Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 11:33 am

Eighthinch just got in the newest addition to their selection of wheels…the V2 Julian! These differ from the previous version in these are triple wall instead of double. They’ve also knocked the price down a bit so getting rollin on these is that much easier. Ive been beating up my current set of the original Julians since January and they’re still going strong. Adding that third wall will just make them that much more beastly. It looks like they went with the same hubsets on these which means, though not necessarily intended, pegs will fit easily on the rear axles. Fresh logo layout that im digging too! As of now they have these in matte black, high polish silver and white…snag ‘em in the Eighthinch online store.

Cool deal on the reversible strap too…sure that’ll get a few more people into it. Ive been back to backpacks for a while now but this this is looking pretty tasty. Posted by: kris on Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 11:04 am

Am i allowed to say that i like this? Haha. A pretty well shot and thought out video…preserving the retro feel through the entire video. Ronson, Kyle Falconer (The View) and Spank Rock take you through on a little stroll complete with robot transforming bikes, bike thieves, a literal gang of bikes, pretty girls and of course a stop in the park. The lyrics are eh…aside from Spank’s lines…especially with the “ride my bike until i get home”. If you use your bike to get around that pretty much true every day haha. None the less, its mellow catchy and I’m felling mellow about to catch some lunch so it works.
