Even with all the eye candy parked at Velo Trap this bronze Panasonic demands attention the moment you walk in. The bright orange is impossible to miss and as shiny as the day it first hit the track. One of the many NJS frames at the trap this is still one of my favorites if for nothing more than the color…
With a proper cache of vintage track and road bikes the newly revamped Velo Trap here in Sacramento has become the go-to for urban cycling. Though they stock or can order just about anything, it’s these rare NJS frames and other track goods that really help them stand out. Ill be popping by the next couple of weeks to share some of the jewels hanging in the shop and if you haven’t paid them a visit it would be well worth a peek! With a single flare fork crown and that green sparkle paint this Samson is just the tip of the iceberg…
Few things compare to a properly smooth NJS build. This Cherubim from Cog Workshop came out looking fine as as ever…
The good just keeps on coming over on Saadl with gems like this Watanabe track. An already rare build and presented in all it’s glory by Karateklubb. Pop over for a closer look at Bankiren’s primo NJS build!
It’s not uncommon for people to pick up a second or third model of a frame when they were stoked on their first setup. However, it is pretty hard to do when you dealing with something as rare as the small Japanese label M-idea. This is Smither’s second go-around with the NJS brand and is by far my favorite of the two. He went above and beyond this time around snagging a matching 75/Zen combo to top everything off. The frame itself if gorgeous enough but as usual this kid knows how to put ’em together. Click through for the full set and peep his last good idea here!
John and the dudes at the Radavist have released the much anticipated 2014 Beautiful Bicycles list and there’s some amazing machines that made the cut. Most of what popped up on the list was prepped for touring or hitting the mud but there was also this fine piece of track booty that snuck in there. There’s always something about a track bike with a nice rack and Chunk’s Nagasawa is tits! Peep the year’s best here!
When I shoot people’s rigs I typically end up with a handful of photos that don’t work out for one reason or another. This is one such flick of the M-idea the homie Smither’s rolled on briefly. Photos at this spot came out a tad blurry so they were scrapped and left for dead on my computer until this week. Despite the focus being a tad off this is the shot I really wanted when we went out…and this bike is too fucking sweet not post!
Friday was a pretty wild day for me but I managed to sneak in a few photos of the young buck Smither’s newest creation. This kid has gone through more bikes this year than most of us have owned yet they always end come out pretty damn proper. Not too often you see and M-idea on the street and this Ebay score came in looking like it came straight off a 90’s shop wall. Some proper track track parts plus a hell of a deal on the ZIPPs and he’s got one nutty NJS build. Click through for a handful more of this purdy thang….
Haven’t seen a dope Vivalo in a while now but this Special looks pretty clean. Spotted it on Tom Kirsche’s flicky where it says its for sale. Track bikes seem to be coming on strong again…wonder if we’ll see another NJS phase this time arounddd.
I rode over to Pedal Hard yesterday after work to chill for a bit and while I was there decided to shoot some photos. This is Tom’s of Pedal Hard’s Watanabe NJS build that he’s been rolling on for a bit. Lots of goodies on it including those Cane Creek wheels that I’ve wanted for years. Those hubs are just too sick. It was hard to shoot these inside a bike shop, at night and without a tripod but some of the shots came out alright. This bike is just too rad not to share…those dudes have a gold mine of parts and bikes you could spend days looking at in there. More to come soon.
