If you’ve been around for a while there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of Burd Phillips fancy footwork. A freestyle originator, this guy has been at the forefront of technical trackstand fun for years. Here’s a compilation of some of his favorite Instagram clips. Still so stoked on this stuff!
Last week on 5/29, I was proudly holding the biggest trackstand competition “King Of Balance” in Asia with my own group Track Or Trick and cooperating with other local groups, bike shops, and so many foreign brands such as God & Famous, Trafik LA, Brick Lane Bikes and so forth sponsoring and showing their love of fixed gear community for the event and bring out more than two hundred to three hundred riders showing up!! It’s great to see people pulling back to the long lost trick track style and competing seriously with others like it’s a crit race or alley cat shits!! The winner came out after 45 minutes balancing on the small playground and taking those finest prizes! Here I pick up some good shots from my bro Y.C Tang, Allen Chu and some good homies from Fixed Style…hope to see the trick track style back on stage again!!
Came across a couple event videos today that i was into. First up is the 2012 Asia Fixed Gear Championship that looks like it went off. Dig events that still incorporate all kinds of bike events from FGFS to trackstand comps and races. Bet everyone was stoked the be at this.
Pretty stoked on this bit that Burd just sent me! If you don’t know who Burd is or know whats up with trackstands you need to watch this. He’s probably THE dude when it comes to balancing on bikes. This is a fresh cool idea here with the green screen too. Bootleg Sessions represent nah meannn.
Looks like a killer time at Barcelona Extreme Festival with Cream Bikes and Things. For some reason my brain started wandering off while I was watching this wondering about if and how I could move to Barcelona. Haha.
Im stoked that Burd is still uploading videos post Bootleg Sessions. He’s always been on top of the trackstand variations…i damn well hope he keeps doing them too. If youve tried this before you know its actually pretty hard to do. Pretty slick. If you dont have Bootleg 4 buy it!
Really like this teaser for the Bicycle Store France. From Jeremy H’s flickr, its simple yet well shot and edited. I actually still enjoy messing around with trackstands from time to time…reminds me of how much you’re able to control a bike with a fixed drive.
The store actually has a decent bit to pick from if youre ordering from out that way.
